Notice of Opportunity to Comment on the 2016 Building Energy Efficiency Standards Residential Compliance Manual and Documents

The California Energy Commission is providing interested parties with the opportunity to comment on the draft 2016 Building Energy Efficiency Standards Residential Compliance Manual and Documents (Title 24, Parts 1 and 6).

Background

The Energy Commission approves compliance manuals for each update to the Building Energy Efficiency Standards (Energy Standards). The public is invited to provide comments to the docket on the draft residential manual and compliance documents through July 31, 2015.

The 2016 Residential Compliance Manual and compliance documents have been updated to include the new measures adopted in the 2016 Energy Standards. Updates are displayed in underline and strikeout for ease of review. Comments are to be made on the 2016 Energy Standards language updates. The Compliance Manual and documents are intended to help plans examiners, inspectors, owners, designers, builders, and energy consultants comply with, and enforce, California's 2016 Building Energy Efficiency Standards for low-rise residential buildings. The lighting and domestic hot water requirements also apply to high-rise residential buildings. The information is written as a reference and an instructional guide and can be helpful for anyone directly or indirectly involved in the design and construction of energy efficient low-rise residential buildings.
